Connect Hevy with an API key
Hevy Pro members create an API key in the Hevy web app's Developer settings. Paste it into Amistio once and the Hevy recipes read your workouts and log new ones for you.
1. Check that you have Hevy Pro
Hevy's public API is only available to Hevy Pro members - the Developer page that issues keys does not appear on the free plan. If you are on the free plan, upgrade inside the Hevy app first, then come back to this guide.

2. Create your API key
Sign in at hevy.com in a browser (the key is made on the web app, not in the phone app). Open Settings, choose Developer, and generate an API key. Copy it - it looks like a long code of letters, numbers, and dashes. Keep it private: anyone holding the key can read your workouts and add new ones to your account.

3. Connect the key in Amistio
In the builder, open Connected apps and press Add key on Hevy, or pick any Hevy recipe - its setup asks for the key right there. The key is stored encrypted in your vault and only ever sent to api.hevyapp.com, in the api-key header Hevy expects. Amistio never shows it again after you save it.
4. Pick a recipe or build your own
- Weekly fitness recap - every Sunday evening, an encouraging summary of your training week on your phone.
- Lift progress check-in - every Monday morning, whether each of your main lifts is climbing, flat, or slipping, with the real kilos and reps.
- Log a workout by text - type a gym session in plain words and the agent files it privately to your Hevy account.
- Your own agent - the connector page lists every Hevy operation an agent can call: list, read, and count workouts, list routines, search the exercise list, read an exercise's history, and read or log body measurements.
Workouts the agent logs are marked private in Hevy, and nothing here can edit or delete anything in your account - the connector has no operation for that. If you build your own agent that reads Hevy every hour or every day, Hevy asks that those runs avoid the exact top of the hour - a few minutes past, like 07:10, is kinder to them. The weekly recipes are outside that request.
Hevy says its public API is new and may change or stop without notice. If a Hevy recipe stops working, check Hevy's official documentation and the connector page for the current operations before rebuilding anything.
Ready to try it? Connected apps in Amistio asks for the same key - press Add key on Hevy.
